Gillingham: 5,000th match

Commemorative items still available

22 October 2023

Commemorative items are available to purchase after we reached the impressive milestone of 5,000 Football League matches at Gillingham on Saturday.

Lewis Macari's stunning strike marked the occasion with a victory and you can purchase a memento in the form of a signed poster or limited-edition coin.

The specially-designed poster features some of the club’s greatest ever players and managers.

If you'd like it to be signed by our all-time leading goalscorer, Les Bradd, who features on the design, you can:

  • Buy online and email magpiestore@nottscountyfc.co.uk, quoting your full name and order reference number
  • Buy over the phone and ask for the poster to be signed - 0115 955 7210
  • Buy in store and leave with us - 9am-5pm

In addition, a very limited number of exclusive commemorative coins featuring details of the milestone are also available for pre-order. Each coin is individually numbered and comes in a special presentation box including a certificate of authenticity. Secure your piece of history online or by completing an order form in the club shop.

We became only the eighth club to reach the impressive figure, following in the footsteps of Preston, Burnley, Wolves, Derby, Bolton, West Brom and Blackburn.

And our achievement has been recognised by EFL chief executive, Trevor Birch, who said: “This is a really special landmark for one of football’s most historic clubs.

“With more than 160 years of history, and as a founder member of the Football League, Notts County have had an impact not only in England but across the world.

“They are one of football’s iconic teams and it’s great to see them back in the EFL and reaching the mark of 5,000 matches.”

Birch will attend Saturday's visit of Wrexham to present us with a commemorative trophy.

Our owners, Chris and Alex Reedtz, added: “We share supporters’ immense pride in the club’s status as founding members of the Football League and are therefore excited to reach this incredible milestone."

To enable as many of our supporters as possible to be part of the historic occasion, hundreds benefitted from free coach travel to Gillingham. A total away following of 820 were treated to a memorable day.

The milestone has also presented us with the opportunity to celebrate our plethora of past achievements, which include nine league titles and many promotions.

We'd therefore love to hear supporters’ favourite memories and see the best photos from their days following us in the Football League.
