Kairo off the mark in dominant win

19 October 2021

A professional performance was rewarded with a convincing victory over Tamworth as we progressed to the first round of the Emirates FA Cup.

Having been forced into a replay after failing to make our dominance pay at the Lamb Ground on Saturday, we put on an excellent display deserving of a greater scoreline.

Kairo Mitchell bagged his first two goals for the club, opening the scoring with a wonderful low strike to send us into the break ahead.

After the interval, he produced a lovely header from a pinpoint Dion Kelly-Evans cross to double our lead before the full-back turned provider once again, setting up Kyle Wootton for a close-range finish.

Gloss was added to the scoreline when Frank Vincent, who had been denied by two superb saves in the first half, marked his first start for the club with a goal which flew through a crowd of bodies and in at the near post.

And we played out the rest of the game in complete control to set up a trip to Rochdale on the weekend of 6 November.

NOTTS STARTING XI: Patterson; Chicksen, Rawlinson, Brindley; Taylor, Kelly-Evans (Nemane 74'); Francis, Vincent (Sam 81'), Rodrigues (O'Brien 63'); Mitchell, Wootton

UNUSED SUBS: Kean, Cameron, Lacey, Brennan
