Notts County midfielder David Vaughan says he was ‘intrigued’ to learn more once he heard about the Magpies’ interest in his services.
The former Wales international trained with his new team-mates for the first time today and hopes to play some part in tomorrow’s friendly against Rolls Royce Leisure.
And Vaughan says the ambition of the club convinced him Meadow Lane was the best place for him.
“As soon as I heard about the interest I was intrigued to find out what the club was like and to meet the manager,” said the midfielder.
“The chairman and manager’s ambition is to get promotion and I’m hoping to help achieve that.
“First and foremost, I want the club to do well. On a personal level, I’d just like to play as many games as I can.”
Nolan is a familiar face for Vaughan, having lined up against him during the pair’s Premier League days.
“He was always a tough player to face,” said Vaughan. “He didn’t like losing and you certainly knew he was around.
“I’m guessing he’ll be similar as a manager!”
