Clark previews Youth Cup clash

Young Magpies to visit Spireites

2 November 2017

Simon Clark hopes his players can take inspiration from the surroundings at the Proact Stadium in tonight's FA Youth Cup first-round match.

The young Magpies face Chesterfield tonight (kick-off 7pm), with admission piced £3 for adults and £1 for juniors and concessions.

And the lead professional development phase coach is looking forward to seeing how his players handle the occasion.

"It's a tough draw," he said. "They're in our league so we know what they're about. We have DVDs of them so we can see how they play.

"It will be a great experience to play in a first-team stadium in front of a big crowd. We play well on good pitches and the Proact has a great surface.

“We'll be aggressive and look to dominate the ball, move it quickly and play through the thirds to give us the best opportunity to win the game.

"We're in a good place and we're looking forward to it.”

The winners of tonight's match will host Port Vale or Stourbridge in round two.
