Raring to go

4 August 2016

Notts County manager John Sheridan has told Magpie Player HD that his team can’t wait to get going at Yeovil on Saturday.

Huish Park will be the destination for Sheridan’s men as the 2016-17 Sky Bet League Two season gets underway.

And the manager says his players are raring to go.

Sheridan said: “Everyone’s biting at the bit. It’s important after all the hard work not to go there flat – I want us to give a performance.

“Yeovil will be the favourites because they’re at home, but we’ll be going there confident of getting the result we’re after.

“I’m very pleased with the way things have gone in pre-season. I think we’ve prepared really well.”

Sheridan confirmed that Jonathan Forte and Izale McLeod have recovered from pre-season knocks, while Michael O’Connor has returned to full training.

The manager is also pleased with the progress of Rob Milsom and Curtis Thompson, who are now ‘two or three weeks away’ from a return.

And, while Sheridan knows which players will start on Saturday, he will be looking for a contribution from his whole squad.

He said: “I know my starting 11 for Saturday but it’s not just about them – it might be a sub who comes on who wins us the game.

“They’ve all worked their socks off to try to get a starting place in the team so some will be disappointed, which I accept, but it’s all about the squad.”

The full interview is available to watch now on Magpie Player HD, which will also have full match commentary of Saturday’s game. Click here to subscribe.
