Derry: They Sure Didn't Have An Eye On The Cup On Tuesday

Shaun Derry spoke to the media this week to preview Saturday's Sky Bet League 1 game at home to Bradford City...

Notts County Manager Shaun Derry knows that his side face a tough task when they take on Bradford City at Meadow Lane on Saturday, but is confident that if they focus on their own game that they can get something out of the match.

Derry spoke to the media on Thursday to look ahead to this weekend’s Sky Bet League 1 encounter and having personally scouted our opponents during the week, the Notts boss is well aware of how strong Bradford are.

He told the assembled journalists: “I watched them again on Tuesday night and against Coventry they were fantastic, the energy and the way they played the game, albeit 72 hours after a cup game on Saturday, it was brilliant.

“They’ve had a great season. They’ve got their team working unbelievably hard for them and they’ve got a really enjoyable end of the season coming up. We’ve got to make sure we’re right for Saturday.

“They sure didn’t have an eye on the cup when I watched them on Tuesday night, they had a really strong side out and the bench was all massively behind it as well, so whether he makes any changes or not, he might do, but I think they’ve got a good 16 or 17 really top players at our level and that’s why they’re having such a good season,” he added.

Derry was also asked about the reverse fixture, which say a single goal claim all three points for Bradford and bring a shuddering halt to Notts’ proud unbeaten record away from home this season, but the Manager is confident that his side will be ready and looking to avenge that defeat this weekend.

“It was a sorry day for us because it brought an end to our unbeaten away record and that hurt,” he continued. “But it’s a new game, it’s a new task for us on Saturday and we’ll be ready, I’m looking forward to the game.”
