Manager Ricardo Moniz is excited for the new campaign and has been ever since meeting the supporters at the end of season event…
The Dutchman has been working around the clock to ensure his squad will be ready for the new campaign and has secured five new signings so far in a busy summer.
The aim is clear, to bounce back to League One at the first attempt and the boss is confident with the squad he is assembling that this can be achieved.
He told Magpie Player: “I’m always excited, I’ve been excited since the end of the season fans meeting. The fans are always looking up and that was part of the healing process. Everyone is sick of whatever happened last season, but we have to come through the situation, we must look up, into League One and continue to go further.
“We need to have a look at all departments, from the Academy, to the Youth, and to analyse. We must give 200% and improve. We won’t sign so much, it will be quality, rather than quantity.
“We have worked hard this summer. The signings so far are very good. We have players on trial and we will announce more signings as pre-season comes along.
“Gill Swerts wanted to come here. We must not be negative. We are a big name, we are the oldest club in the world, we must be proud. Gill had a good career and he’s passionate. He worked for his career and that’s his biggest strength. He can inspire the kids too. He also wanted to play in England.
“And the other four signings have great qualities too, plenty of experience, youth there, leadership. All very positive.”
