Derry: I'm Hoping That Everybody That Comes To Watch Can Join The Party

6 February 2015

Notts County Manager Shaun Derry spoke to the media this week ahead of the Sky Bet League 1 game at home to local rivals Chesterfield on Saturday.

Derry feels that there are comparisons that can be drawn between the two sides and knows that it will be a tough local derby, despite Chesterfield having sold their topscorer Eoin Doyle on the final day of the January transfer window on Monday.

“They’ve been fantastic,” the Notts boss said of our opponents this weekend. “They’ve got another young Manager at the helm there, he’s done incredibly well, he really has.

“They’ve got some good players as well and that’s been made even more stronger with the business that they’ve done in the window.

“I know they’ve lost, I suppose, their talisman, in terms of goals, but they’ve replaced him with four or five really good players and I think that goes to show just how far they’ve come as well,” he added.

“Again, we look at that type of opposition and we’ve got a problem. We always pay respect for the opposition that come here, but then you throw into the equation that it’s a local derby.

“I want it to be quite a boisterous derby as well, I want it to be full of energy and enthusiasm and I’m hoping that everybody that comes to watch can join the party, because I’m hoping that our team will deliver better than we’ve delivered in our last two games.”
