Carroll: I'm Still Looking Above Me At The Play-Offs

6 February 2015

Notts County goalkeeper Roy Carroll spoke to the media on Thursday ahead of our Sky Bet League 1 game at home to Chesterfield this weekend.

After a strong start to the season, Notts have struggled for form in recent weeks and Carroll admitted that the numerous comings and goings throughout the January transfer window have meant that the team needs time to settle again now, but is focussed on getting back on track this weekend.

“It’s difficult times at the moment. The big situation is at the moment that we’ve got new players in, who are getting bedded in,” said the Northern Ireland international.

“We saw at the start of the season when the boys had a pre-season together and we had a good run at the start of the season, but over the Christmas period it’s been very difficult, but we know what we have to do, we’ve been working hard on the training ground to get these results sorted out and we have to get them sorted out soon rather than later.

“For me personally, I’m still looking above me and hopefully getting closer to the play-offs and that’s hopefully what everyone else is thinking.”

Many of the new faces that have arrived at Meadow Lane in recent weeks have been younger players, but Carroll feels that with the experience already within the squad, Notts now have a good blend to their team.

“At the start of the season everybody said we’ve got an old team, now we’ve got young players, so the situation is that we’ve got a good mixture of experienced and young players, but the young players take time to gel in,” he added.

“They’ve been here for a few weeks now though so hopefully we can go out there and get a good result against Chesterfield that we need to get the points.”
