Adams: Another Opportunity To Get Some Points At Home

17 February 2015

Notts County defender Blair Adams is hoping to keep his place in the starting line-up for the visit of Sheffield United on Tuesday evening, having hit a rich vein of form.

Adams has been one of the stand-out performers in each of the Notts’ last two outings but the arrival of fellow left-back Sean Newton on loan recently has meant that the former Coventry City man faces a new challenge for a place in the starting XI.

Shaun Derry has praised Adams for his performances of late and the 23-year-old full-back said that his Manager’s backing had helped his performances, telling Magpie Player: “He [Shaun Derry] said that to me before Leyton Orient on Tuesday that he was really happy with us, so it was a great confidence boost heading into that game.

“Obviously after them two it’s up to me now to keep them sort of performances up and maintain it.”

The 1-0 victory over Leyton Orient last week provided the whole club with a much-needed lift after a difficult run of results and Adams confirmed that the feel-good factor had continued within the camp this week.

“It’s carried on into this week and obviously we were disappointed not to have a game on Saturday after such a great win, but tomorrow night’s come around fast,” he added.

“We want to carry on and start putting in the sort of gritty performances that we had been earlier in the season, which was picking up good points against the stronger teams in the league and obviously Sheffield United pose that sort of top level team tomorrow night.”

With some of their best form having come away from home this season, Adams also hopes that Notts can start achieving better results here at Meadow Lane over the final weeks of the season.

“It’s something we need to address really,” he continued. “Our home form hasn’t been as good as we want it to be. Chesterfield a couple of weeks ago was a bit of a freak goal and I think we were a bit deflated after that because we felt we deserved something, so again the games come thick and fast and tomorrow’s another opportunity to get some points at home.”
