Moniz: At Home We Must Dominate And We Must Press

14 April 2015

Manager Ricardo Moniz is hoping his squad can entertain the Meadow Lane crowd on Tuesday…

Notts take on Barnsley in another important League One fixture and Moniz is looking for his players to provide plenty of action for the home crowd.

The Dutchman is looking forward to controlling his Meadow Lane technical area for the first time and is confident, with the right mentality, that Notts will gain a positive result.

He told Magpie Player: “We must win the home games for your own crowd. We have a lot of respect for the opponent, but at home we must be dominate and we must press them with the crowd behind us, the 12th man.

“I am looking forward to it, it’s an honour and it will be special to play at home.

“We play for the supporters, they pay to come and watch. We must give every last percent.

“The fans come for chances, to be entertained and to win. We must win their confidence, it’s up to us, they will support us and we can turn their minds and gain trust through unity.

“Attacking is the best defence. If we can score three or four times, it doesn’t matter if a set piece goes in.

“We have to create a lot more scoring chances. We didn’t play so bad, but the focus must be totally different.

“We will try to win five games, for less, we won’t do it. We have the right mentality.”

The Manager revealed that winger Jamal Campbell-Ryce could miss out on the fixture against his former side after having a scan on his injured knee on Monday.

He also said midfielder Liam Noble and full-back Sean Newton are out due to injury. In more positive news Curtis Thompson is back in training after picking up an injury against MK Dons last month.
