Manager Shaun Derry was pleased to secure the immediate future of 19-year-old right-back Kyle Dixon as he signed a new one-year contract this week...
Dixon spent a majority of last season on loan at Grantham Town and Boston United, before being part of the boss’ squad in the run-in to the season.
Derry was impressed with not just his performances in non-league, but also his attitude once he returned to Meadow Lane.
He told Magpie Player: “Kyle went on loan and did really well at a lower level and when he came back into the group he grew as a person and a player as well.
“I’ve changed his position from a midfielder to a right-back and we will be working very closely with him during pre-season. He will be playing the games.
“I like having good people around me and he really comes into the equation. Everyday he’s got an appreciation for the club. He’s a Notts County fan, so he loves being around the place anyway and he wants to make his name here.
“We are giving him the opportunity to do just that. I like his energy, his personality and he trains right every single day and puts in a shift. I’m hoping we’ve got a little diamond. His attitude is spot on. I’m pleased for him.”
