Best Goal In County Colours

2 January 2014

Winger Jamal Campbell-Ryce’s superb solo finish in Notts County’s 3-0 win against Bradford City was his best since signing for the club.

Campbell-Ryce was named Man of the Match for a dazzling performance on the right flank and capped it off with a truly outstanding strike, which saw him carry the ball from his own half before placing into the bottom corner.

The former Bristol City playmaker hopes that his goal will be the first of many in the New Year, as he aims to help steer the Magpies away from trouble.

“I don’t think I have scored a better one for Notts, the only one that comes close is the one at Hartlepool away last year,” he said.

“It’s always nice to get on the scoresheet and I’m quite an individual player so most of my goals will come like that.

“If you’d asked me five games ago my aim would just have been to get a goal but I’ve got that now so I can kick on.”

Campbell-Ryce also thanked the new management team for their part in his rejuvenation in recent matches.

The tricky wideman has chipped in with a number of assists and contributed massively to the team effort to give Notts fresh hope of climbing out of the bottom four in 2014.

“Greg [Abbott] and the gaffer have come in and put belief in me and confidence,” he continued.

“Hopefully I can keep performing and playing well for them.

“I’m just thankful that the gaffer has come in and put his trust in me and I’m just thanking him with my performances and against Bradford my goal.”
