Start How We Finished On And Off The Pitch, Says Shaun Derry

15 August 2014

Manager Shaun Derry cannot wait for the return of competitive football at Meadow Lane when Notts County face Fleetwood Town on Saturday.

The Magpies kicked off the campaign with a hard-fought draw with one of the favourites for promotion, Preston North End, and will be looking to go one better this weekend.

County ended 2013.14 with five home wins on the spin and Derry hopes that the momentum will continue into the new campaign with the backing of the home fans.

He told the press: “We’ve had a good start in terms of the away point at Preston - obviously Tuesday was a setback - and our next two games are hopefully points that we can take.

“It’s going to be a case for us to try and get maximum points.

“Strong teams are based on home results and home performances and it’s even more clinical that we ended the season with all of our fans behind us.

“I’m hoping that we can start on Saturday in the a similar vein because our fans got us through last year.

“We put in the performances but we were very much helped by The Kop and we’re looking forward to it."
