AM: Andrews Was The Best In Our League

15 April 2014

Harry Andrews has been described as the best goalkeeper in the North East Youth Alliance by head of Academy coaching Andy McMillan.

Andrews earned a senior deal at Meadow Lane earlier this week, after his consistent displays in the Under-18s caught the attention of the first team staff.

McMillan has every confidence that should the agile stopper continue to develop at the same rate, he can go on to make a name for himself with the Magpies at senior level.

“Harry, in my opinion, is the best goalkeeper in our league that I’ve seen,” he told Magpie Player.

“Since his return from injury earlier in the season, he’s been a steady influence in goal.

“He commands his box and has a tremendous spring and his distribution is excellent.

“He has a really, really good work ethic and hopefully he’ll be able to push towards the first team next season with the gaffer.

“Harry’s got a great opportunity to work with Kevin Pilkington and we’re looking forward to seeing him develop with the senior goalkeepers.”
