Liddle Seeks More Home Joy

25 October 2013

Defender Gary Liddle has enjoyed playing at Meadow Lane recently and has set his sights on a return to winning ways, after back-to-back defeats on the road.

The Magpies can make it four home wins on the spin with three points against Preston North End on Saturday afternoon (3pm kick-off).

Triumphs over Burton Albion, Tranmere Rovers and Crewe Alexandra have seen the team play with confidence on home soil.

Although away form has not been as good as hoped, Liddle is eager to put things right with another victory in front of the Black & White Army.

He told Magpie Player: “It’s a lot different to last year, that’s for sure – the home form and away form have swung around compared to last season.

“The lads are confident coming into home games and that’s not to say we’re not confident going into away games, as we’ve played a lot of those where we felt we should have picked up three points.

“The home form has swung around a lot and the lads are looking forward to going out at Meadow Lane in front of the fans and putting on a show as we have done in the last couple of games here.”

He added: “It’s a massive game, especially after the last couple of results we’ve had.

“We’ve had a decent run of home form and it’s important that we keep that going.

“There is a bit of a gap starting to open up at the bottom now and with it being a quarter of the way through the season that’s expected.

“The league’s really tight so it’s important that we keep picking up points along the way.

“My only disappointment is that when we have played well and lost, you’d have rather played badly and get a point just to keep the tally ticking over.

“That’s something we’ve failed to do so it’s important we get some kind of result at the weekend and a win would be great.”
