Notts Youth Team put in their best performance of the season to beat Hull City’s youngsters 3-1 on Saturday thanks to a brace from forward Colby Bishop and a strike from Glodie Bange.

Last season’s Champions Hull are one of the front-runners for the title again this season, but the Magpies came from behind to take all three points.

Head of Academy Coaching Andy McMillan was full of praise of his side and also the group of supporters that made the long trip to Yorkshire.

He told the Official Site: “Everything that we’ve been on all season clicked and it was a very good performance. It all fell together and it was an excellent win. They all worked hard.

“We were 1-0 down at half-time and I’m not sure how because we were playing well. It was a great strike, but I just the lads to keep doing what they were doing and the rewards will come.

“We scored three good goals and it could have been more. Hull are a good club, with good staff and they produce good players, but we more than matched them.

“Bishop, who has joined us from the college system has done really well with five goals in two games and all the lads are buzzing.

“Colby is currently on trial with us and he’s really well. He’s big and strong, gets on the end of things and we are going to see what we can do to keep him around.”

A dedicated bunch of fans made the trip to Hull’s Training Ground and McMillan was surprised and delighted to see them in the club’s colours supporting the lads.

He added: “It was absolutely tremendous to see the supporters there in attendance.

“They were hugely dedicated, cheering them on and I know the players appreciated it. We would like to thank all the fans that come and watch us.”

The win was to be even sweeter for McMillan against his former side, and he’s hoping to do the same this weekend as the squad face another of his old club’s, York City at Highfields for a 11am kick-off.
