Murray Making An Impression

13 November 2013

First team manager Shaun Derry has praised in-form frontman Ronan Murray for the way that he has taken his first team chance.

Murray has been a regular in the development squad this term but was given an opportunity to shine in Derry’s first game in charge against Hartlepool United.

The Irishman came off the bench to net the Magpies’ second goal and was rewarded for his finish with a start in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy loss to Oldham Athletic.

Although a disappointing night at Boundary Park, Murray netted again with another excellent strike and could be in line for another start in the big Sky Bet League 1 encounter with Wolverhampton Wanderers at Meadow Lane on Saturday afternoon.

“I’m pleased for Ronan because the minute we’ve walked through the door he’s shown exactly what I want my players to show me,” said Derry.

“That’s whole-hearted commitment and taking what I’m telling him on the training field onto the pitch.

“Clearly he was on the losing side but if there was one bright spark then Ronan’s the kid.

“I’m pleased for him because he’s hit two in two now and he’s made himself noticed in my thoughts.”

Murray can be backed as the first goal scorer this weekend with Sky Bet and if you open an account and deposit before the end of November, Notts will get a £10 bonus. Join Now!
