Derry: Bring On Wolves!

15 November 2013

First team manager Shaun Derry has told his players to 'put things right' when Notts County face Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday afternoon.

The Magpies delivered a disappointing performance on Tuesday night against Oldham Athletic but have a fantastic opportunity to make amends with an improved showing against the Sky Bet League 1 high flyers.

Derry is demanding much better from his players on his return to Meadow Lane as County boss and is up for the challenge of toppling one of the division’s best sides.

He told the press: “I told them to take stock of the last week and come in with a freshness and buoyancy that wants to put things right on Saturday.

“We’re welcoming probably the biggest team in League 1 with a travelling support that’s going to be right behind them.

“I’m hoping that we can prove to the fans that come through the turnstiles that it is a new dawn and that they can get value for money.

“There was no value for money on Tuesday night away at Oldham, that’s for sure.”

He continued: “Whenever I’ve been in teams where we’ve had a couple of knocks and a heavy defeat, to go and play against one of the top teams of the league has just been better.

“You want to go out there and put things right against the top and we’ve got an opportunity to do that on Saturday.

“I can’t wait for the game to come, we’re both missing players and I think we’re missing a number of guys which will make it even more difficult.

“In adversity some people come to the front and I’m hoping I can see that on Saturday.

“This isn’t words what I’m saying, this is what I’m expecting.

“This isn’t a load of spiel where they’ve heard it all before – I’m demanding that they come in and make an impression on me.

“I’m making demands of the players and they’ve got to be big enough to accept those demands and put in a performance.”
