Notts Rider: Day Three

20 June 2013

The Notts Rider looks back on the third day of his 155-mile London to Amsterdam Cycle Challenge for Prostate Cancer UK…

Thankfully we were allowed to enjoy a lie-in following the completion of our trip. Sunday was a day of reflection, as we chatted over breakfast, sharing stories of the adventure.

One lady had required eight stitches to her calf after a nasty fall on the second day but battled through. To finish the ride was a great effort and showed what the charity meant to the participants.

Along with the money raised, other highlights of the trip included the people I met. I can honestly say that I’ve made some lifetime friends and it was great to share such an unforgettable experience with them.

It would not have been possible without the backing that I have received from 3663, Premier Electrical, On-Call Recruitment, Carlsberg, Anlens Commercial Cleaning and Richard Betts Painters and Decorators. Not forgetting friends, family colleagues and, of course, the supporters of Notts County Football Club.

I’m now well over the £2,000 mark with the fundraising and it would be great if we could keep chipping away at the £5,000 target. It’s a fantastic cause and my page will remain active until September, so I hope that everyone will continue to help out where possible.

We finished the trip with the Eurostar home, via Brussels, and arrived at St Pancras International at 8pm on Sunday night. What a journey. You can still sponsor the Notts Rider by visiting his Just Giving page: www.justgiving.com/nottsrider
