Notts County can confirm that Saturday’s npower League 1 match away to Portsmouth has been postponed because of a waterlogged pitch at Fratton Park.
With heavy rain persisting throughout the morning in Portsmouth, the club called an initial pitch inspection for 12:30pm to allow referee Tony Bates to make a call on whether the game could go ahead as planned.
However, that inspection proved inconclusive and with heavy rain continuing to fall, it was decided to call a further inspection at 1pm.
By this time, the continued downpours had meant that the pitch could no longer be deemed playable and the match was unfortunately postponed.
Notts would like to thank the supporters that had made the long journey down to the south coast, it has been an incredibly frustrating day for all involved and we do obviously sympathise, but this situation has been completely out of the club’s control.
Details of the rearranged date and time for the fixture will be released on the official site as soon as they have been confirmed by both clubs.
