Defender Haydn Hollis is relishing this weekend’s encounter with league leaders Doncaster Rovers.
Hollis was drafted back into the starting 11 for last weekend’s 3-1 victory over Colchester United.
The 20-year-old looked composed alongside Dean Leacock at the heart of the back four and hopes to retain his spot for the trip to the Keepmoat Stadium.
First team manager Chris Kiwomya has made it clear that we will not hesitate to throw his younger players into the mix against Rovers, following their impressive impact last weekend at Meadow Lane.
Hollis hopes this will be the case, as he sees the clash against the promotion chasers as the perfect opportunity to showcase his capabilities.
He told Magpie Player: “If we’re picked, it means that Chris thinks we’re good enough and I think we are good enough to be thrown in there.
"I think Doncaster will be a Championship team next year and we’ll see how we’ll fare against a Championship side.
“You know that if you’ve got people behind you, supporting you and wanting you to do well, then I think you will go on to do well.
“I think 60 per cent of your game is about confidence, because if you have confidence to do it, it’ll come off.
“There’s a lot to come from the younger players and we’ve got massive respect for Chris for what he’s done.
“But, you can’t just come in and play well once, you’ve got to play well whenever you get in the team and keep that consistency up.
“I was really happy to come back into the side against Colchester and I think I played quite well, so I was happy with it overall.
“It’s been a big occasion for me coming into this side and I think I’ll only get better.”
