Saturday will not come quick enough for Notts' number nine...

Enoch Showunmi cannot wait to get his first match in a Notts County shirt under his belt this weekend.

Notts have two friendlies arranged for this Saturday, against Buxton and Ilkeston FC, which both kick-off at 3pm.

The majority of senior players are expected to travel to Buxton, with the former Tranmere striker likely to be included on that list.

Showunmi linked up with his new teammates last Tuesday and they have been put through some tough sessions in the build-up to this game.

“It’s been hard work for the lads coming back but I’m glad to be out here and the boys seem really cool,” he told Magpie Player.

“I’m just looking forward to playing that first game, I haven’t played a game for ages and as a footballer all you think about is playing the games.

“It will be great to get that first friendly under our belt as well as it will be the first real test of our fitness.

“The games are what really gets you fit and we’re just looking for that first game of the season and to do well.

“That’s where you get to know where you are and then you can push on from there.

“I don’t think any player really likes pre-season but later down the line the strength and conditioning work that we’re doing now will do us good.”
