Enoch's Got The Shakes

23 July 2012

Enoch Showunmi has never been a fan of breakfast… until now…

Notts County frontman Enoch Showunmi has been given a boost – quite literally – by NRG Fuel Sports Nutrition.

The Nottinghamshire-based firm, which is one of the countries leading bodybuilding, weight loss and diet supplement suppliers, have agreed to sponsor Showunmi’s nutritional support for the 2012.13 campaign.

As part of the Nigerian international’s preparation for training and matches, he is taking a breakfast fruit shake that contains rolled oats as the main ingredient.

All of the components are natural and provide slow releasing energy that will help to improve the number nine’s energy and performance levels.

“Ever since I’ve been a kid I don’t really have breakfast and they say it’s the most important meal of the day,” Showunmi told Magpie Player.

“It’s good to get that fuel into you before you start training and get that energy that your body needs to be able to cope with the stresses that training puts you under.

“I think it’s the inches that count, if you’re looking after yourself with what you eat and what you’re drinking off the field, then that little inch can push you on and extend your career.

“You look at players like Ryan Giggs, who play on until they’re 38 and even Ian Goodison at Tranmere, he must be doing a few good things off the pitch as well.”

Nutritionist Matthew Lawson added: “It has been great for Enoch to quickly seek out some support to help his training and ultimately performance on the pitch.

“A lot of research over recent years has gone into showing the value of healing athletes’ bodies from within and that the vitamins and minerals we enrich our bodies with has a direct effect on our inner tissues.

“NRG Fuel have been fantastic and to have their support, considering they also work with Team GB athletes in this year’s British Olympics is a real coup for the club.”
