Youth team off to a promising start...
Notts County youth team opened the 2012.13 campaign with a goalless draw against the Youth Alliance North East champions, Hull City.
In a closely fought encounter the Magpies created a number of good opportunities, especially in the second half, with Romello Nangle and Brad McGowan coming closest.
Last season the Tigers put 14 goals past Notts across three fixtures but Brett Adams’ side put in a strong defensive performance.
“It was a very good game and both teams had a go,” he told the Official Site. “It was a tight game from start to finish, very evenly matched.
“They were a strong team, just as we expected, but our lads equipped themselves correctly.
“We matched them physically and tried to play football, and both sides had chances.
“We deserved our clean sheet and could have even nicked it at the end.
“We’re very proud of them and this is a start point for them now, achieving a point against last year’s champions.
“We know what we need to do better and we will work on that this week.”
