Smith: Bodies On The Line For The Club

14 September 2014

Midfielder Alan Smith went home with a smile on his face after another away point...

Captain of the day Alan Smith praised his team-mates after another gritty and determined performance in the 0-0 draw against Peterborough United.

With Hayden Mullins injured, the former MK Dons man took the armband and put in another commanding performance in the middle of the park.

The result meant that Notts continued their fantastic away form, something that Smith is very pleased with.

He told Magpie Player: "It's a good point away, but I thought in the first half we had some great chances. It was a fair result though.

"It was the type of game I love. I love playing away from home, when it's backs against the walls and everyone's digging in. I will be going home with a smile on my face.

"I think the Management team have stamped their authority into the club and they've done that.

"Right through the squad we are so close, we are tight-knit, despite the amount of time we've been together and hopefully that's reflected in the performances.

"Especially games when we are away from home and we have to put our bodies on the line for each other.

"We hope the fans and the people around the club, can all see that too.

"We do have a bit of quality and that will shine through. We have a great defensive basis and we are difficult to beat and solid.
