Derry: That's Just Not Acceptable

25 January 2015

Notts County Manager Shaun Derry couldn’t hide his disappointment at his side’s performance in the 2-1 home defeat to Peterborough United on Saturday.

Derry had seen his side claim a battling win over Crewe Alexandra and a hard-earned away draw against Doncaster Rovers in the past week, but he felt that his side’s performance against an out of sorts Peterborough side at Meadow Lane was well below par.

He said after the game: “I can’t tell you how disappointed I am with that performance, I thought it was a great opportunity going in before the game to get ourselves in the top six, against a team that was low on confidence.

“We knew that they would come here and put up a fight for the Manager, like they did do, but we needed to better than that today.

“That’s the real overriding disappointment, the manner of the defeat, once again, the goals we’ve conceded, once again were unacceptable.

“I don’t know where to start to day if I’m honest. I need to have a good chat on Monday and let them know that that’s just not acceptable,” he added.

“We can’t go from being as good as we were at certain parts last Saturday and then have a collective unity on Tuesday night and then absolute splinter groups today in terms of a performance.

“There was a standout performer on the pitch and I thought that was Curtis Thompson, I thought he was absolutely outstanding, but aside from that not too many of our players can look at themselves in the mirror tonight and be happy with their performances.”
