Sellebrity Soccer A Resounding Success

9 May 2016

Sellebrity Soccer was played at Meadow Lane last night with funds raised going to the Football In The Community and Make Some Noise charities.

Celebrities including Calum Best, Sam Bailey, Che Chesterman, Jake Wood, Bars and Melody, MC Harvey and Luis Morrison donned their boots in the name of charity, and the healthily numbered Meadow Lane crowd weren't left disappointed as a high scoring game finished 10-8.

The excitement was building from as early as 11am, when the first fans arrived at Meadow Lane, and ended long after the full time whistle as the celebrities stayed to sign autographs.

The unique event provided crucial funds to Notts County FC's Football In The Community, as well as chosen charity 'Make Some Noise'.

Sellebrity was launched in 2012 by Darren Eadie and Kevin Cooper to raise money for charities using high profile celebrity football matches. From smaller grounds to Premier League Stadiums they organise regular, largescale celebrity football matches across the UK. All costs are covered with sponsorship, which means more money goes to charities such as FITC.

Kevin Cooper spoke before the game of bringing the event back to Meadow Lane, "The club were right behind the match last October and made it a great success. Being able to bring a Sellebrity Soccer match to Notts County in the summer makes it even more exciting".

Notts County's Head Of Commercial and Events Richard Cokayne said, "On the back of the success of the first Sellebrity event held here in October, I was delighted to welcome Sellebrity back. Kevin and the team are brilliant to work with. We're also pleased to join forces with FITC as our chosen charity. I'd like to thank everyone who made this event possible, and to thank the fans for their incredible support on the night".
