Ronan Murray Targets Two More Positive Years With Notts County

31 July 2014

Ronan Murray was delighted to have extended his Notts County stay until the end of 2015.16 and is targeting two better seasons.

Murray signed for the Magpies last summer and made a big impact following the arrival of manager Shaun Derry.

The striker scored seven league goals in 15 starts to help Notts avoid relegation, despite appearing doomed at one stage of the campaign.

Murray wants no repeats of The Great Escape and is determined to keep scoring the goals that can help County compete higher up the Sky Bet League 1 table.

“I’m delighted to have extended my stay here, I had a good, positive year last year even though we were in a relegation fight,” he told Magpie Player.

“Jim [Rodwell], Aileen [Trew] and the chairman (Ray Trew) and everyone behind the club are rewarding the players for what they do on the field, which is good.

“It’s a nice family club and I’ve got to know the people in the offices well.

“The gaffer has been top dog, and Greg behind him, it’s a good club and good players and personalities that he’s brought in and I’m enjoying it.

“Hopefully we can have a better season than last year and not have to do The Great Escape again, then see where it takes us.”

Murray is set to return to action when the Magpies face Osasuna at Meadow Lane on Friday evening. For full ticket details, click here.
