Notts Bring Christmas Cheer to QMC

18 December 2015

A number of Notts County players and coaching staff visited the QMC on Thursday...

First team players Jon Stead, Roy Carroll, Izale McLeod, Graham Burke, Adam Campbell and Alan Smith, as well as manager Ricardo Moniz and Assistant Manger Dave Kevan, visited the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham on Thursday to hand out some tasty treats to the patients on the children's wards.

Started nine years ago by supporter Rob Bristol, the players visit the hospital twice a year, at Christmas and Easter, to bring cheer to the patients who are going through difficult times.

The visits are only possible due to the overwhelming generosity the club receives from the supporters, with hundreds of selection boxes having been donated this year for the players and coaching staff to hand out.

Rob Bristol said, "Since setting this up many years ago now, it has become a long standing partnership with the hospital and I am proud of the way the club support it."

"It has grown and become bigger each year, with the club helping to make it a huge success. I would like to thank the fans for their generosity which really makes a difference. We will be doing another visit in Easter where we will again need the support of the fans, it's not possible without their support."

Community Liaison Officer Matt Lawson also commended the supporters who had donated "The hospital visit was probably the best we have done, based purely on the interaction from everybody at the club with families on the wards."

"Ricardo and Dave alongside all the players were particularly engaging with the children which really made it special. The two babies we saw on the Renal Ward for example, it was great seeing their faces light up when they met the manager. We spent over two hours just talking with people less fortunate than ourselves and it makes a difference to realise how lucky we all are."

"We would like to thank our supporters who have been fantastic again with the donations, the whole club pulled together yesterday and it was a humbling experience for all concerned at the QMC."
