Nangle Out To Emulate Gaffer’s Success

17 June 2013

Striker Romello Nangle hopes to emulate the success that his manager experienced as a player.

First team manager Chris Kiwomya built up a reputation as a regular goal-scorer with Ipswich Town during eight years at Portman Road and went on to play for Arsenal and Queen’s Park Rangers in the top two tiers of English Football.

Nangle signed an initial one-year professional contract with the club after an impressive two seasons in the youth team.

The fleet-footed attacker aims to do everything he can to become a hit in the black and white stripes and repay the faith that Kiwomya has shown in him.

“He had a good career and with me playing in the same position hopefully he can pass on what he was taught to me,” he told Magpie Player.

“Knowing the career that he’s had and he sees a bit of himself in what I have so that’s pushing me to go and work harder.

“He wants me to work on my diet and get stronger to help me to stay on my feet.

“I’ve been sticking to the diet program that was put together by Matt Alexander (chief scout) and Matt Lawson (nutritionist) and I’ve been going to the gym regularly and running when I can.

“In the first team it’s more of a battle to prove yourself and I need to be mentally and physically ready for the test next season, because it’s not going to be easy.”

The 18-year-old has already made his mark on the senior stage with a composed finish in the 3-1 win over Colchester United at Meadow Lane at the back end of the 2012.13 campaign.

“Just being involved with the first team last season was amazing and when I got my first professional goal it felt unreal,” he continued.

“Hopefully I can get a few starts and a few goals and hope that everyone will trust me as a player on the pitch.

“It’s every boy’s dream and it means everything to me, I’ve wanted it from the day I started kicking a football and hopefully this is just the beginning.”
