Halsall: Pleasing To Watch Effective Football

2 March 2015

The Youth Team ran out 4-1 winners over Scunthorpe United…

The Magpies thrashed the Irons on Saturday thanks to two braces from Colby Bishop and Kieran Blaney.

Notts went 1-0 down at the start of the game, but dominated the match and earned a great three points to push them further up the table.

Head of Academy Coaching Mick Halsall spoke of his delight.

He told the Official Site: "It was a good win, another good performance again, particularly after going a goal down early on.

"The lads got on the front foot again and played some really good football and deserved the win against a strong side.

"We knew it would be a bigger test than York and they responded really well after that early setback and we could have won it by more. We had another six more chances to get more goals, so it's pleasing to see the goals coming.

"We came out the second half, against the wind and we managed it really well.

"It's pleasing that we are scoring goals. We all know Bish is a proven prolific goalscorer at this level, but Blaney has got goals in him too and others could have contributed as well.

"We passed the ball well and our keeper has had a quiet day. We stayed on the ball, they are all comfortable with the understanding of the game and it's effective football.

"The quality of the goals too, especially the ones which we have worked on in the training ground is also pleasing."

"Fingers crossed we can go again against Chesterfield."
