Youth Team Hit Back With A Win Over Hartlepool

19 March 2015

The Youth Team grabbed the three points on Tuesday…

After back-to-back defeats, the Youth Team secured all three points against Hartlepool at the Eagle Valley Stadium.

A first half goal from a trialist midfielder gave Notts the win, although it really could have been more.

Head of Academy Coaching Mick Halsall explained: “We played some really good football again and it was very pleasing after the two Chesterfield games.

“We could have gone five or six up with a bit more clinical finishing and that’s a bit of a theme for us sadly. We have scored goals throughout the season, but the football we played was good.

“The lads were brave and we took the goal and moved the ball really well through the thirds.

“The second half wasn’t as fluent, but we retained the ball well and created enough chances to make it a bit more comfortable.”

The squad now face Bradford City away on Saturday.

Halsall added: “It will be a tough, tough game and it will be a battle. We came out 3-2 winners earlier in the season. It was competitive and there was a real honesty about both teams and I’m expecting the same.

“They are right up there in the league and it’s a bit of a tough ask for us get to the top now with the amount of games left, but we want to finish the season on a high.

“We will go there and give it a go and hopefully come back with a win.”

The squad will be without Colby Bishop with an injury, meanwhile centre half Rhys Myers is suspended.
