Derry Pleased With Notts Response

9 March 2014

Manager Shaun Derry was happy with the way Notts County responded from the Rotherham United disappointment against Leyton Orient.

Manager Shaun Derry was happy with the way Notts County responded from the Rotherham United disappointment against Leyton Orient.

Notts battled to claim a valuable point against the Sky Bet League 1 high flyers and looked the most likely to claim victory at Meadow Lane.

More of the same is required if the club is to get out of trouble in the remaining 11 games, according to the boss.

“We needed to bounce back in the right way - I didn’t ask for any miracles, I just wanted an honest performance and that’s what they’ve given us,” said Derry.

“They’ve given us an honest week and they’ve backed it up with a performance that needs to be replicated between now and the end of the season consistently.

“If we play like we did last weekend nothing’s going to happen but if we play like we did on Saturday we’ve got every chance.

“It’s never been about ability because this club has ability running through its veins, it really has.

“It’s about that mental strength upstairs and that’s how we played the game - with a real endeavour and a belief amongst each other that we could do it right to the very end.”
