Notts County sit 10th in the Sky Bet League One table, with the best defensive record in the league and a positive result on Saturday against Gillingham could see his side go into the top six.
However the boss is hoping everyone connected to the club can relax and remain positive, but also reflect on the progression the Magpies have made after last season.
He told Magpie Player on Thursday: "I think we've had a good start, I'm pleased. I don't want us to get too carried away by anything.
"I'm content with it. Look where we were last season. We were 90 minutes being out of this league, so I'm pleased.
"I'm delighted of where we are at the minute. We've come a long way.
"We've recruited over 20 players and they all understand their jobs and we are hard to beat and that's what I wanted.
"We've got through the first ten games and it's given us a platform to go into the next period of games where we can look to be more creative and ruthless.
"There's been a lot of talk about top six, let's just relax and see where we were and where we are now."
