Campbell-Ryce: We've Got A Great Squad Of Hard-Working Players

27 February 2015

New loan signing Jamal Campbell-Ryce was delighted to have returned to Notts County and is looking forward to stepping out at Meadow Lane again this weekend.

Campbell-Ryce rejoined Notts on an emergency loan deal, from fellow Sky Bet League 1 side Sheffield United, on Thursday and spoke to the media about linking up once again with Manager Shaun Derry.

“It’s nice to be back and seeing familiar faces and all the rest of it,” explained the winger. “It all happened pretty quickly really, obviously I played most of the season at Sheffield United, had a good season.

“But the last month or so has been a little bit frustrating, being in and out and stuff and the manager there knows what I’m like, I just want to play football and with the size of our squad he just said, if you’re happy to go out on loan, and he knows that coming here I’ll get a lot more consistency, a lot more games under my belt.

“Sheffield United’s a great club, a fantastic club, but I’m not one of them to just sit around and just pick up my money, I’d just rather play football. I’m still a Sheffield United player and I’m looking forward to going back, but obviously I’m looking forward to playing some football here.”

Campbell-Ryce returns to Notts with the club sitting 18th in the Sky Bet League 1 table, but the 31-year-old feels that the club has more than enough to turn things around over the remaining games of the season, starting with the home match against Port Vale this weekend.

“Me and the Gaffer and Greg were talking this morning and I think they’ve done remarkably well, especially at the beginning of the season, the start they had, and obviously recently results haven’t been fantastic, but that’s football,” he added.

“You have ups and you have downs and sometimes it’s just about trying to eradicate the downs and try and get the ups back and I’m sure we will. We’ll give it a good go and one thing that they have got is a great squad of hard-working lads and obviously he’s brought me and Paddy in for a bit more of the flair side, but everyone here is 100% and that’s what we’ll be doing on Saturday.”
