Happy memories

15 August 2016

Louis Laing says happy memories of his previous loan spell at Notts County made it an easy decision to return.

The Motherwell centre back signed a six-month loan deal today, commencing his second spell at Meadow Lane following a 12-match stay in 2014-15.

And the former Sunderland man is delighted to be back.

He said: “Last time I was here I played what I felt was my best football.

“I love the fans and I love the club. That was one of the main factors – the belief the fans have in me – but the main thing for me was that the manager wanted me here.

“I want Notts County to be a success - to go back up - and I feel there’s a really good possibility of that.

“I feel like we’ve got the players, the depth in the squad and the manager to bounce back up to League One, where the club belongs. That’s the main ambition.”

Laing didn't want to leave the Lane after his first loan spell expired.

He said: “I wanted to stay here last time – I was in the manager’s office back at Forest saying ‘I want to come back’ [to Notts] but it didn’t go through.

“I tried my hardest to get back and I don’t know why it didn’t happen – I pushed it as hard as I could because I loved being here – but I’m back now and fingers crossed it will be successful.”

Laing will be eligible to face Plymouth Argyle tomorrow. Click here for tickets.
