Community scheme making an impact in local schools...

Our highly commended ‘A Game of Two Halves’ is back for the new season and schools are encouraged to sign up today.

For the second time since launching at the start of last season on ITV1, Change 4 Life, a public health programme that encourages people to lead healthier lives, has used the scheme as a case study

Carried out in conjunction with Fantasy Island and the NHS, A Game of Two Halves is set to reach out to more Nottinghamshire primary school children during 2012.13, informing them how to keep active and eat healthily.

“As the name suggests, the session, carried out in local schools, is split into two halves,” said community liaison officer and first team nutritionist Matt Lawson.

“The first part focuses on biology, supported by an informative DVD fronted by County players, and, in the second half, the children are encouraged to get up and get active through sporting activities.

“This project is supported by chairman Ray Trew, director Aileen Trew and chief executive Jim Rodwell along with one of our loyal supporters, David Greenwood, which has been fantastic for the club.

“The fact that we’ve been used as a ‘best practice’ for July by a programme such as Change 4 Life shows more excellent progress.

“We engage with children aged five to 11 in an innovative way and we’ve seen great forward strides in the schools we’ve visited and would encourage more to get involved.”
