This season saw the launch of Notts County’s elite youth girls section.
With the support of excellent coaching staff and facilities, our girls have impressed in their attitude and aptitude for the game.
Our drive to push them on further has been incredibly well received and we are very proud to announce that the section will soon double in size, adding Under 8s, 9s and 13s for the 2018-19 season.
Playing as elite girls against the boys in the Youth Elizabethan League, our teams have all performed well.
In early 2018, the Under 9 cohort finished runners up in the YEL 4v4 league hosted at Meadow Lane.
The Under 10s reached the Cup quarter-final following a 12-match unbeaten run, including victories against Derby, Leicester and Mansfield.
Our Under 11s have seen some excellent individual and collective performances and progression in each game. Their first exploit in Cup football saw a nail-biting penalty win in the first round before bowing out in round two. They too have beaten Derby on their travels.
Away from the league, the girls have travelled far and wide to play the best the country has to offer, while they have also featured on BT Sport, East Midlands Today and the Evening Post.
Soon to represent Notts County on tour, our girls all wear their shirt with pride. Each and every one has been an ambassador for very positive movement within the club to support the female game.
Recently awarded a coveted Wildcats Licence by the FA, the club will support a national drive to introduce as many young girls to the game as possible. Meadow Lane will host open sessions for all girls aged 6-9 from April 2018.
