Awards: Langstaff & Williams

Pair earn March recognition

11 April 2023

Luke Williams and Macaulay Langstaff have scooped Vanarama National League monthly awards for March.

It’s Williams’ second Manager of the Month trophy of the season having won the October prize, while Langstaff has become the first player in history to be named Player of the Month three times in a single campaign.

The recognition follows an unbeaten month, in which we claimed convincing home wins over Dorking, Eastleigh and Scunthorpe before rounding off with an excellent 2-0 victory at Altrincham.

For Williams, it was a tricky month laced with injuries, international call-ups and the untimely recall of Connor Lemonheigh-Evans.

Despite all that, he brilliantly kept the team on track as we continued our breathless battle with Wrexham at the top.

Langstaff, meanwhile, finished March with an incredible nine goals in seven matches, including doubles against Scunthorpe and Dorking.

His final goal of the month proved memorable not only for its bizarre nature, as he capitalised on John Bostock’s quickly-taken free-kick at Altrincham, but also for the fact it saw him beat Tom Keetley’s club record of 39 goals in a season.

At the beginning of the season Langstaff also made history by becoming the first player ever to win back-to-back awards – and he’ll be hoping to claim his fourth trophy come the end of April.

The awards are dedicated to our late CEO, Jason Turner, and everyone at the club offers their warmest congratulations to both.
