England camp: Brooks

Young keeper receives call-up

24 December 2022

Tiernan Brooks has received his second call up to an England goalkeeping development camp at St George’s Park.

Having performed well when first given the opportunity last season, the 20-year-old has been invited to return at the end of January.

The camps are designed to give participants the chance to showcase their skills, develop areas of their game and experience how England train and prepare for international football.

The camps have been running for over a decade and provide goalkeepers with the opportunity to push for international selection in their respective age groups.

Jordan Pickford, Jack Butland, Joe Hart and Aaron Ramsdale are only some of the goalkeepers to have attended such camps earlier in their career and our goalkeeper coach Tom Weal is delighted for Brooks.

“Tiernan should be incredibly proud of the international recognition he’s received,” said Weal.

“This season’s loan to Hednesford provided him with valuable experiences and challenges which have enabled him to grow as a person and develop as a goalkeeper.

“This camp will again give Tiernan the perfect opportunity to work with some great coaches and compete with goalkeepers of a similar age on the international stage.

“We’re looking forward to seeing Tiernan continue to challenge himself moving forward and we’re excited to see how far he can push himself.”
