Goals from Kyle Wootton, Cal Roberts, Aaron Nemane and Elisha Sam handed us a convincing win over King's Lynn Town.
Having gone behind to Gold Omatayo's early finish, we went into the break ahead after Wootton and Roberts both scored in front of the Kop.
And we added deserved gloss to the scoreline after half-time with an excellent individual effort from Nemane and a clinical finish from Sam off the bench.
Ian Burchnall made three changes to the side that suffered a heavy defeat at Torquay United.
One of those was forced after Alex Lacey picked up what’s thought to be only a minor injury in training on Friday, paving the way for Sam Graham to make the first appearance of his third loan spell.
Nemane, who made a good impact off the bench at Plainmoor, joined Roberts in returning to the starting XI to form an attacking force which also included Ruben Rodrigues and Wootton. Dion Kelly-Evans, who made the bench, and Frank Vincent were the men to miss out.
We started on the front foot and created a half-chance on four minutes when Adam Chicksen’s dangerous low ball flashed across the face on goal with just too much pace on it for Roberts, who was arriving late at the back post.
But it was the visitors who would take the lead on 11 minutes when, with Harry Arter left on the deck after what looked like a foul in midfield, Omotoyo converted a low cross from the right with a first-time finish from near the penalty spot.
It could have got worse a couple of minutes later when another ball into the area picked out the unmarked Michael Clunan. He got his shot all wrong, however, guiding it straight at Vitezslav Jaros.
We got back on track on 24 minutes, however, when Arter’s teasing ball into the left-hand channel was misjudged by a Lynn defender, allowing Rodrigues into the area. The Portuguese could have taken a close-range shot on himself but showed excellent composure to provide Wootton with an easier chance, which he duly converted.
Our pressure continued and, shortly after Ross Barrows had made a massive block to deny Rodrigues following good build-up involving Nemane and Wootton, we had the lead when Roberts lashed the ball home from just inside the area after showing brilliant feet to open up the space.
There were no changes at the break and on the hour mark we furthered our lead when Nemane scampered into space down the left, cut on to his right foot and curled the ball beautifully into the far corner.
The winger could have had a second with 20 minutes to go when he played a neat one-two with Rodrigues, only for Jones to make a good save at his near post.
And, two minutes later, Nemane had another big chance to score after Rodrigues had fluffed his volley from Wootton’s excellent flick-on. The loose ball came to the former Manchester City man but he couldn’t keep his shot down.
That proved to be Nemane’s final action as he made way for Sam, and within five minutes of his introduction he put the game beyond doubt after rounding off a move he started with a raking pass for Roberts. The Geordie cut inside on his left and saw his shot blocked, with the loose ball coming to Sam for him to lash into the corner.
Jones was equal to further efforts from Jayden Richardson and Sam on an afternoon when the score could have been far greater.
But a 4-1 victory was enough to cement our spot in sixth, leaving us three points behind Chesterfield in fifth and seven points behind Halifax in third.
