The winner of this year’s Lifeline jackpot draw, Stephen Burns, visited Meadow Lane to collect his winnings this afternoon!
Waiting to greet him were club legend Les Bradd and Lifeline coordinator Lynn Lawson, who took him pitchside to pose with his cheque.
Recalling the moment he first heard the amazing news, Stephen said: “I was sitting in the caravan at Ingoldmells with a couple of friends ready to go out to the pub – and I got a text saying ‘Burnsy – you’ve won the 10 grand. Your name’s just come up!’
“Of course, I didn’t believe it at first but then loads of other messages started to come through. It was going on all afternoon – it was brilliant.
“I’ve been in Lifeline a couple of years now and this is the first thing I’ve won – not even a match ticket until now! I’ve grumbled about that in the past but I’ll stop now I’ve won the big one!
“I’m going to sit on the money for now – but I think I’ll treat myself to a new car.”
