Our chief executive Jason Turner has expressed his gratitude to everyone who helped the club smash the Vanarama National League attendance record.
We were delighted to welcome a crowd of 12,843 to Meadow Lane for yesterday’s victory over Solihull Moors, eclipsing the previous record of 11,085 set by Bristol Rovers in 2015.
And Turner was thrilled that our offer of cheaper tickets was met with such an enthusiastic response.
“Yesterday was a very proud day for everyone connected with the club,” said Turner.
“Our main objective was always to engage as many people as possible and to present families with the opportunity to enjoy an exciting, affordable day out, but breaking the record is a huge bonus and a reflection of the club’s massive potential.
“On behalf of the board I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended and created such a memorable atmosphere – from our loyal season ticket holders who have stuck by the club through thick and thin to those making their first ever visit to Meadow Lane. You are all history-makers and our appreciation of your support is immeasurable.
“I must also acknowledge the phenomenal work of our staff in devising, planning and delivering an overwhelmingly successful campaign. It’s one thing getting the word out and generating sales, which we did brilliantly, but it all comes down to the day itself and everyone – be they full-time or casual employees – worked their socks off to make it the best matchday possible.
“Finally, congratulations to Ian Burchnall and the players on a tremendous result and performance to keep our fantastic form going. We’re so excited to see what the future holds for this team – beginning with the visit of Rochdale for an important Emirates FA Cup first-round replay at Meadow Lane on Tuesday night.”
