Barnet 1-4 Notts

An emphatic victory in London

8 May 2021

A dominant display was rewarded with a convincing 4-1 victory away at Barnet.

In blustery conditions, we controlled the vast majority of the game but, playing against the wind in the first half, we had to wait until the last action of the half for Mark Ellis to stoop low and head the ball home following Jake Reeves' corner.

Within a minute of the second half beginning, we doubled our lead when Calvin Miller scampered to the byline and pulled the ball back for Ruben Rodrigues to score his fourth goal in three matches.

And Miller was pivotal once more as we added a third, this time the wing-back seeing his low cross turned home by a Barnet defender.

It would have been four had it not been for Adam Parkes' brilliant save to deny Kyle Wootton, who had done well to latch on to Rodrigues' brilliant cross.

But we did add extra gloss to the scoreline in the dying embers as Enzio Boldewijn, on for Wootton, cut inside from the left and found the far corner with a trademark 20-yard effort.

Former Magpie Michael Petrasso scored a scrappy consolation moments later but there was nothing to stop us rising back into the play-off positions ahead of Tuesday night's trip to Maidenhead.

NOTTS STARTING XI: Slocombe; Chicksen, Ellis, Rawlinson; Miller, Brindley; Doyle C (68'), Reeves, Rawlinson; Wootton (Boldewijn 74'), Sam

UNUSED SUBS: Turner, O'Brien, Knowles
