Cal Roberts marked his return to action with a stunning goal as we eased past AFC Telford in our second pre-season friendly.
In his first action since April's trip to Hartlepool, the Geordie's short corner caught the National League North side cold as he moved in from the right and lashed the ball home from the edge of the area.
Roberts had been introduced as part of a raft of changes on the hour mark, up to which point we had been dominant in terms of possession.
We should have led at the break but trialist Andre Wright was unable to convert a good opportunity, sending the ball over at the back post.
The assured Ed Francis made way for Matt Palmer and Ruben Rodrigues replaced Elisha Sam at half-time and we began to turn the screw after the restart, with Brindley and Rodrigues both going close - the latter with a tremendous free-kick which crashed off the post moments before Roberts' magic gave us the lead.
Kyle Wootton, youngster Brad McGregor and Kyle Cameron all went close to doubling the deficit but 1-0 was how it stayed.
