Boston 1-3 Notts

Convincing win but Knight hobbles off

27 July 2021

Andre Wright, Kyle Wootton and Elisha Sam fired us to victory at Boston United - but we lost Lewis Knight to injury.

The speedster, deployed at right wing back, pulled up with what looked like a hamstring injury minutes after he'd laid on an excellent cross for Wright to score the first goal of his trial spell.

Jim O'Brien was the man to replace Knight and the Scot had an immediate impact, working well alongside Wright to lay the ball on a plate for Wootton to guide it home.

After the break, substitute Sam put the result beyond doubt with a clinical finish after being threaded into the area.

But the hosts grabbed a late consolation when Jake Wright Jnr beat second-half substitute Tiernan Brooks, denying us a third consecutive clean sheet.

Notts line-up: Slocombe (Brooks 67'); Cameron (Chicksen 62'), Rawlinson (McCrory 62'), Brindley (Kelly-Evans 67'); Taylor (McGregor 67'), Knight (O'Brien 25'), Kaba-Sherif, Hondermarck, Palmer (Francis 45'), Wright, Wootton (Sam 62')
