Decisions have been made on the futures of Matty Wolfe and Tom Walker.
The pair have been on loan at the Lane from Barnsley and Harrogate respectively but both deals expired earlier this month.
Despite only making two appearances so far this season, Wolfe has impressed manager Neal Ardley with his development since his mid-October arrival and Barnsley have agreed for him to stay with us for the remainder of the campaign.
Walker, meanwhile, will be leaving after making five appearances as cover for Cal Roberts, who is now working towards a return to training following a successful operation.
Ardley said: “Tom indicated to us that he would prefer to return to Harrogate to fight for his place and we fully respect his decision. He leaves with our best wishes.
“Cal has been working hard in the gym and is making good progress, so we’re hopeful Tom’s departure shouldn’t hit us too hard.
“With Matty, we’re really looking forward to continuing our work with him and I would like to thank Barnsley for trusting us with his continued development.
“It’s been a challenging season so far for him, with him catching Covid at an unfortunate time, but we value him as an important part of our squad and can see him learning every day from the likes of Michael Doyle, Jim O’Brien and Jake Reeves.
“Opportunities will come for Matty between now and the end of the season and we’re excited to see more of him.
“I’m in regular dialogue with our owners to explore ways we could further improve the squad – we’re assessing our options and if we feel we can do something to benefit the club, we’ll act.”
