We were beaten 3-2 by York City as several players stepped up their game time in our final pre-season run out at Meadow Lane.
After the National League North side took the lead through Kurt Willoughby, the 2,095-strong crowd were treated to a majestic finish from the impressive Cal Roberts who bent the ball in off the underside of the bar following a lay-off from Matt Palmer.
We went into the break ahead when Joel Taylor's cross took a huge deflection on its way into the far corner but the visitors restored parity with a Mark Beck header at the back post.
Roberts, Kyle Wootton, Elisha Sam, Jim O'Brien and Connell Rawlinson all went close to restoring our lead in a dominant second half but Willoughby hit us with a late sucker punch to win his side the game.
