We gave 91-year-old supporter Frank Read a day to remember when we hosted Eastleigh last Saturday.
Not only did we record a memorable win, Frank was our guest of honour and had an extra special afternoon planned out.
He’s currently in end of life care for terminal cancer but we’d heard he wanted to come back to Meadow Lane one last time, so we rolled out the red carpet for him with the help of friend Marie and her son, Jack, who are like family to him.
Before the game, Frank met Neal Ardley and the squad before he enjoyed hospitality in our 1862 Suite.
At half-time, he received a standing ovation from the near 5,000 in attendance as he went pitchside, where our record scorer, Les Bradd, presented him with a signed shirt.
Frank then selected two-goal Kyle Wootton as Man of the Match to top off his fantastic experience at the Lane!
